A college student died on the spot on Tuesday morning when a gas cylinder-laden truck crushed him at Panposh Chowk under the Raghunathpalli police station here.
The police arrested the driver and seized the vehicle (OR 02P 4188). Sources said that after Abhishek Badaik (18), a Plus Two Science student of the Rourklea Municipal College, was killed, irate locals blocked the Panposh-Uditnagar Main Road for three hours demanding adequate compensation to the deceased’s family. The blockade was lifted only after the ADM released Rs 20,000 ex-gratia from Red Cross fund and assured further assistance from Chief Minister’s relief fund for the bereaved family
