Student Congress activists on Sunday intensified their agitation against the State party leadership and burnt an effigy of All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Odisha Congress-in charge BK Hariprasad.

The irate activists led by Akash Pani and Ajay Panda held a demonstration before the Utkal University here and demanded  withdrawal of the show-cause notices issued against Student Congress members in connection with their “misbehavior” to Hariprasad and deputy in-charge Subhankar Sarkar by Student Congress activists recently.

The activists said if Hariprasad does not know lalatendu Bidyadhar  Mohapatra  then he should not  stay as the Odisha in-charge.

Notably, some activists of the student wing of the party had barged into a city hotel, where Hariprasad and Sarkar were holding discussions with Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan and shouted slogans on Wednesday, being enraged over the absence of AICC leaders during the cremation of Mohapatra on Tuesday.

later on Thursday, the Congress disciplinary committee sent show-cause notices to the Student Congress leaders asking them to reply on the indiscipline shown during the discussions of the senior leaders.
