At least five activists of the Odisha unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) were arrested by the Delhi police as they tried to protest Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s lack of Oida knowledge at his residence in the national Capital on Tuesday.
Holding a copy of the Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha (an Odia primer) in their hands, student Congress members led by State president Itish Pradah sat on a dharna in front of the CM’s residence. Police detained Itish and four others for violating Section 144 CrPC.
Earlier, Itish and four more Student Congress members had been detained and sent to jail for trying to enter the Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar in a bid to teach Odia language to the Chief Minister.
