The Pradesh Student Congress led by its president Yaseer Nawaj on Monday beat gongs before the colleges and universities in the State demanding students union elections.
The agitators including Student Congress members and students held demonstrations before Utkal University, Capital Law College, Debaray College, Maharishi College, and BJB College in the capital city. They burned tryres and blocked the roads.
Nawaj said for the last eight years the Naveen Patnaik Government has snatched the Constitutional and democratic rights of the Odisha students. In the colleges and universities, the Biju Chhatra Janat Dal has formed committees and spreading a reign of terror in those educational institutions. In the colleges BCJD supporters and members are frequently indulging in violence. Those who are not joining the BCJD are being targeted.
The entry of outsiders into the campuses is increasing and ragging is surging in the educational institutions. Besides, fake certificates are being used to get admissions in the colleges, alleged Nawaj.
