Stripping off of black pants of kids triggers fresh row

Published on:

At a time when the State is rocking over the incidence of some women being forced to take off their black scarves, stoles and shawls before entering the Chief Minister’s meeting venue in Sundargarh on December 3, fresh allegations of stripping off of black colour pants of minor kids came to the fore here on Friday.

Two women of Sundargarh have levelled the allegation in front of the media. However, the Sundargarh police have feigned ignorance of the incident.

Sources said two women from a native village of Mangaspur village in the district, Daldali Sabita Gardia and Muni Perua, alleged that the black coloured pants of the kids, who were in the arms of their mother, were also taken off by the police.

Hundreds of women, mainly belonging to different SGHs, had come with their kids in their arms. “Police asked to take off the black coloured pant of my son before entering the meeting venue and accordingly I had to strip off the pant of my son.” alleged Sabita Gardia.

Muni Perua also echoed the same allegation. “My two -year old daughter had to face the same situation,” she said.

“We have no report about stripping off pants from the kids,” said Sundargarh SP Nikhil Kanoria. “The incident is being probed by the Western Range (WR) IG and therefore, it would not be appropriate for me to give further reactions over the issue,” Kanoria added.
