Strengthen rly network in South Odisha: MASM

The Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch (MASM) demanded immediate proactive initiatives to strengthen the railway network in south Odisha. MASM members too submitted a memorandum to the East Coast Railway Divisional Railway Manager in this regard on Sunday.

“We are demanding a passenger halt at the Industrial Estate at Ankuli in Brahmapur since two decades. It is yet to be fulfilled,” said Banshidhar Bhuyan of the MASM.

The Brahmapur city was declared as corporation since seven years. But the people are using the only way across Industrial area, i.e. from Ankuli Road to the railway station, which is about 15-20 km from the Panchayat villages.

For the growing population and long distance, the PH at the Ankuli industrial belt is highly essential, Bhuyan said.

He also said there is no train to Bhubaneswar from Gunupur which is connecting among four districts i.e. Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Khordha.

A fast passenger between Gunupur and Bhubaneswar with halting at the Madras railway station is highly needed for fulfilment of official purposes as Bhubaneswar is the capital, the members demanded.

They also demanded a passenger train between Gunupur-Puri to return back on the same day. They also demanded drinking water facilities, sanitation and light in the platform though the memorandum.
