Stray animals like cattle and dogs in the city were fed with a human touch on Sunday as Animal Welfare Trust - Ekamra (AWTE) held ‘Feed a Stray Day’.

Starting from Old Town, the activists including animal lovers covered many locations like Bapuji Nagar, Unit-1, Sahid Nagar, Acharya Vihar, Nayapalli, Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Baramunda, Khandagiri and Patrapada. More than 30 members and volunteers took part in distributing food to the helpless stray animals like dogs, cattle etc. The foods include Rotis, biscuits, rice, eggs, chicken and vegetables/straws for cattle. Animal rights activist and AWTE founder Purabi Patra said, “We started the campaign last year on April 15 and got good response from the animal lovers across Bhubaneswar. This year, we are even more hopeful.

The main intention of the campaign is to aware people to treat animals well and feed them whether it's a pet or a stray as animals are a vital part of our environment and the most trusted friends of ours and they should have their right to live”.
