Protesting the authorities’ “apathy” towards development of the Chhatrapur railway station and ensuring of basic amenities for passengers, the Chhatrapur Nagar Unnayan Committee staged protest in front of the railway station on Wednesday.
The committee demanded stoppage of the superfast trains like Howrah-Yashwantpur, Bhubaneswar-Yashwantpur, Bhubaneswar-Chennai, Bhubaneswar-Puduchery and Howrah-Kanyakumari Expresses at the railway station for the benefit of the people of Ganjam district.
The committee members also demanded extension of the DMU train from Khallikote to Chhatrapur and stoppage of fast passenger trains at the Chhatrapur Court Station. The agitators said that they would continue their stir till their demands are fulfilled.
