The All India Democratic Students’ organisation (AIDSO) organised a demonstration in front of the Board of Secondary Education office here on Monday, opposing the State Government’s decision to hold online tests through online and demanding reopening of schools and running of physical classes only after the Covid pandemic. “The State Government’s plan to hold an excellence test for Class X student though online could not materialise due to link failure.
As a result, the Government has postponed the test for further order. In fact, all students don’t have smart phones or computers and network is not available. Students are precariously climbing trees, hills and other dangerous places to avail network.
Besides, unreported power cuts add to students’ woes. Under these circumstances, how the State Government is going for online teaching,” wanted to know AIDSO State members Bhagyarabi Das and others.
They alleged that the State Government’s move intended to pave way for implementation of National Education Policy 2020.
The online move would deprive thousands of students of teaching.
Thus, the Government should plan to reopen schools, conduct classroom examinations and introduce pass-fail systems for Class I to VIII students after Covid situation becomes normal, demanded they.
They warned to intensify agitation if the demands are not met soon.
