The Odisha State Committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist-leninist) Red Star (CPI (Ml) Red Star) in a letter to the State DGP, South Western Range DIG and Koraput Collector has urged them to stop the “harassment” of political activists by the police and the BSF.
The party said the harassment started after they left to attend the centenary programme of October Revolution Day in New Delhi on November 5.
Since that day some BSF Jawans are repeatedly harassing and threatening district committee leader comrade Prakash Hikaka and other leaders of Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon block in Koraput district. Many a times when BSF Jawans, local police went to them, they had answered all their questions and showed their identity cards.
Even then they are threatened that they will be killed in the name of Maoists. The party further said the unorganised workers are being exploited and not paid their legitimate dues by MGNREGS contractors.
The exploiters of that area are in nexus with the BSF jawans and police and threatening and torturing the people taking the plea of Maoists, the party alleged.
“We have requested the DGP and other officers to intervene in the matter and stop harassing political
activists and allow political parties to do their work,” said State secretary and politburo member Sivram.
