The BJP has criticised the announcement of the State Government to start Mandis for procurement of paddy from October 1.
Party spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said the crop cutting has not taken place; so where is paddy to be procured. Sharma said the announcement is politically motivated and far removed from the ground reality. The party also took a dig at the Chief Minister for his anti-farmer stand and doing drama to appease the farmers. Sharma said the Government has not yet started the identification of the sharecroppers and demanded that instead of discussing with a few farmer leaders in the Secretariat and relying on their views, the Chief Minister must try to know the distress in the farming sector and take step for the welfare of the farmers.
