Stop creating drama over SCS demand, says BJP

BJP State spokesperson Suresh Pujari on Saturday blasted the ruling BJD and opposition Congress for not taking up the genuine issues of the people and instead doing politics over special category State (SCS) status to Odisha.

“The Naveen Patnaik-led BJP Government is shedding crocodile tears over the SCS demand. Its motive behind raising the issue is just to divert the attention of the common people from its failures in all sectors,” said Pujari.

Similarly, he said, the Congress leaderships both in the State and at the Centre are misleading four crore Odias by giving confusing remarks on the SCS demand at different times.

Pujari said, “There are many issues in the State like the deteriorating law and order, coal and mining scams, atrocities on women and the demand of a permanent High Court Bench in western Odisha which need urgent attention. Instead of addressing these issues, the BJD Government is busy arranging protest meetings on the SCS issue across the State.”

Coming down heavily on the Chief Minister, Pujari said the State Government is not at all serious about the genuine demand for a permanent High Court Bench in western Odisha.

“Setting up of a permanent High Court Bench first needs concerned State’s recommendation to the Centre followed by consent of Parliament. But while the State Government is making remarks that it is very serious about the demand, it is yet to recommend to the Centre to this effect. This clearly exposes the insensitivity of the Government towards the genuine demands of the people,” said Pujari.
