Ahead of the three-day Id-ul-Zuha festival beginning from September 24, the Sammilita Goraksha Mahabhijan Nyasa has urged the Muslim community not to opt for cattle killing keeping in view the sentiments of Hindus.
In this context, a 14-member team of the body led by its convenor Santh Srikrushna Das submitted a memorandum to the State DGP in Cuttack on Monday.
Das said, “In Indian culture, cows are worshipped, particularly by the Hindu community. Hence, cattle sacrifices hurt the religious belief of crores of Indians.”
As the Muslim community carries out cattle sacrifice in large numbers during the festival, the activists demanded the DGP to put a complete ban on the practice and to take steps to rescue the cattle kept for sacrifice to be made during the three-day fest.
