Chairman of Western Odisha Development Council Asit Tripathy laid the foundation-stone of a CCTV surveillance system of Balangir town on Wednesday besides inaugurating a reception centre built in the Town police station with WODC assistance in the presence of former Balangir MP Kalikesh Singh Deo.
"People will get sitting and other facilities when they come to police station. The CCTV system will further increase surveillance and help in better traffic management and crime control," Tripathy told the media.
"I have asked the SDPO to enquire into the incident of viral video of an ASI of Tureikela police station receiving money from a local broker to facilitate illegal migration of labourers and submit a report," said Balangir SP Nitin Kusalsar.
Asked about the incident of torture of an old man at the Salebhata police outpost, the SP said, "I have asked the Balangir SDPO to inquire into the incident and submit a report."
