An anti-privatisation people’s front fighting for the rights of the people is planning to stage a dharna from Gandhi Jayanti demanding to resolve the issues of patients duped by doctors at the MKCG Medical College Hospital here.
Members of the Manav Adhikar Suraksha Mancha (MASM) will carry out the peaceful protest – Gana Dharna – outside the Brahmapur Sub-Division Office. The front is demanding that the hospitals should not refer patients to other private hospitals and nursing homes, which causes inconvenience to patients and their families.
General secretary of the association Maguni Nahak said, “The MKCG Medical College Hospital is the only big hospital in south Odisha. But patients are being cheated by some doctors and brokers. They exploit the innocent patients by charging a huge sum or not giving them proper treatment.”
The MASM also demanded the authorities to fill up the vacant posts of doctors and para medical staff and provision of necessary equipment such as BP machines, ECG machines to carry our proper treatment.
