The ICICI Bank and the Reserve Bank of India on Friday took a joint step to meet the growing need of lower denomination coins in Sambalpur.

In the Sambalpur Municipality office premises, the ICICI Bank in collaboration with RBI Bhubaneswar opened a counter and distributed coins to nearly 600 people.

“A total of coins worth Rs 10 lakh and low denomination notes of Rs 6 lakh were distributed to the customers,” informed Sanjay Swain of the ICICI Bank. Each customer was given coins of Rs 2,000 at the higher side. Such facilities would be extended to the people of Bargarh and Jharsuguda soon, he added.

At the programme, RBI Bhubaneswar General Manager Subrat Das and ICICI Bank Sambalpur Branch Manager Anand Deo were present.
