The State Government’s own Food Security Act actually is not meant for the poor, downtrodden and helpless people. Rather, it is meant for political reasons.
This has been made clear by State Food Commission Chairman Ranglal Jamuda’s letter to the State Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Secretary, said State BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty in a Press conference here on Tuesday.
Mohanty alleged that thought the Central Government is sanctioning funds for 3, 28,559 eligible beneficiaries but the State Government is not providing the facilities.
In the remote, forest and tribal dominated areas though thousands of eligible beneficiaries have been identified, they are not being provided rice under the Food Security Act, Mohanty alleged.
He further said Jamuda in his letter has stated that if these 3,28,559 beneficiaries are provided rice by the Central Government scheme, the State Government can make a saving of Rs 55.24 crore, in which 789 Anganwadi houses can be constructed.
