An All-Women Branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) was inaugurated at Shahid Nagar Market here by State Secretary of Women & Child Development Department Arti Ahuja on Wednesday in the presence of SBI CGM Praveen Gupta.
Gupta said it is the first All-Women Branch of the SBI in Odisha. The bank has decided to open All-Women Branches in all the major centres in the country. He hoped that this branch’s environment would facilitate women in the city to approach the women staff without any hesitation and meet all their banking needs.
This is a step towards further women empowerment through financial inclusion which would also enable women to become financially independent, Gupta said. Although the branch is staffed only by women, it would render services to all members of the society.
