State will witness major change in 2019 polls, says Minister

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram has maintained that the Congress has lost chances of taking mileage of non-Congress vote divisions forever in the State since the year 2000.

Oram said this to BJP workers at a meeting here on Sunday. “The radical change in the perpetuated vote divisions has rooted out the Congress from the State,” he said.

Oram predicted that Odisha is going to witness an unprecedented change in the 2019 general elections.

“In 2000 and 2004 elections, there was an alliance between the BJP and the BJD. Both the parties had equal might in the State during the period. Now, the BJP State organisation is getting strengthened day by day. In 2019 general elections, BJD will face the same woeful fate as the Congress,” stated Oram.

The meeting presided over by BJP Ganjam district president Bijay Kumar Swain was attended by former Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly and party spokesperson Rama Chandra Panda, Ganjam Bar Association president Sisir Kumar Padhi, youth leader Bibhuti Jena, former BMC Mayor Shiva Shankar Dash and Saroj Sabat.

A memorandum seeking inclusion of Brahmapur under the Smart City scheme was given to the Minister. To this, Oram said the State Government recommended Sambalpur for IIM solely keeping an eye on the ensuing municipal election. If the Chief Minister so wishes he can make similar recommendation to the Centre for Brahmapur’s inclusion in the Smart City scheme. “Which two cities will be recommended for Smart City is only known to the Chief Minister,” he added.

Earlier, Oram visited deceased Jagannath Reddy’s family at his lakshminagar residence at lanjipalli village. Jagannath had died coming under Rath wheels here on Saturday.

Oram assured the family members that he would talk to the State Government to provide them Rs5 lakh which is in case of deaths in Puri Rath Yatra. The Minister also visited Hinjilikatu, the Chief Minister’s home constituency, and addressed party workers there. He urged upon the party workers there to sensitise people about various welfare schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana; Atal Pension Scheme, Insurance Scheme, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ Yojana.
