State to seek clarification of SAI on Dutee test

We will write to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to inform us about the elimination of sprinter Dutee Chand from participating in the Commonwealth Games and a clinical report in which she tested positive for hyperandrogenism,” said Sports and Youth Services Minister Sudam Marandi.

“So far nobody from the SAI or the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has spoken to me about any medical test or its results. The only information I have is from the newspapers. After I reached Bangalore from Patiala I was told to give my blood sample for routine tests as is the practice before all important competitions. Then I was taken to the hospital for further tests but at no point was I told what these tests were conducted for,” said Dutee Chand on  her arrival here on Friday.

“In the past I got rousing welcome here several times but today it’s deferent. I dream of bagging a medal in the World Jr Meet and Common Wealth Games is dashed. If there is any problem in my test I will go for medical treatment and make a comeback very soon,” added Dutee, the fourth of the seven children of cotton weavers Chakradhar and Akhuji from Jajpur district.

We have not talked to any official at Bangalore; we only accompanied distraught Dutee to reach home safely, said coach Rupanita Panda.
