In a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Secretariat here, the State Government decided to implement e-district project by September 1 in 130 tehsils and also extend the Odisha State Wide Network (OSWAN) project to all sub-registrar offices.
Notably, the State Government has started such a service on a pilot basis in Mayurbhanj and Ganjam districts. The Government is now offering birth, death, caste, resident, income, legal heir and solvency certificates in these two districts. The service would be extended to other parts of the State by September 1. Over 130 services, such as applications for caste certificate, pension and driving license would be available at single kiosks once the project is underway.
Under the project, residents can approach the common service centre (CSC) for all these utilities. After an applicant approaches the CSC, scanned copies of their applications would be sent to concerned officers online.
The CSCs would be run on public-private-partnership mode. The earning from processing of forms would be shared by the concerned Government office and the private party to sustain the project without implication of recurring running cost on public exchequer.
The State Government would also extend the Odisha State Wide Network (OSWAN) project to 103 urban bodies, 177 sub-register offices, 165 treasury, 375 health institutions, 317 tehsils, 30 blocks, 30 DRDA and 58 sub-collector offices by April 2014. Among others, Chief Secretary BK Patnaik, Development Commissioner JK Mohapatra and department secretaries attended the meeting.
