State to have 3 more cyber PSs

In order to properly investigate and detect the increasing cyber crimes, the police are planning to open three more cyber police stations in the State. A decision to this effect was taken at a seminar held here at the police headquarters on Wednesday.

More than 60 police officers, two each from all 30 districts, attended the workshop that was addressed by experts from different fields.

Inaugurating the seminar, DGP KB Singh hoped that such workshops and seminars would immensely benefit the police in detecting the cyber crimes.

Although the cyber crimes are new, they are very challenging, and if adequate infrastructure and manpower are not built, the situation may worsen, feel senior police officers.

Only one cyber police station is now functioning in the entire State from the police headquarters here since 2006. It was suggested to open more police stations to exclusively deal with cyber crimes.

It was also decided that a cyber forensic division would be opened in the State Forensic laboratory to exclusively deal with the evidence available in cyber crimes.
