Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma on Wednesday met Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan and demanded supply of more rice instead of wheat to the State.

Dasburma along with department Secretary Madhusudan Padhee met the Union Minister at New Delhi and placed demands of the State before him. Dasburma urged the Union Minister to ensure early lifting of the price stored in Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns in the State. He also urged Paswan to supply rice and other commodities in jute packets instead of plastic. “We urge the Minister to ensure supply more rice instead of wheat so that many beneficiaries, including the residential schools where rice are provided, will be benefitted,” said Dasburma, adding that the Union Minister has assured to look into the demands positively.

Sources said the two Ministers and officials also discussed the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State.
