Compared to the last so many days, an increased number of new Covid-19 cases were reported in the State on Sunday. And the death figure continued almost same.
As many as 393 persons tested Covid-19 positive on the day in 27 districts and the State pool, pushing the total tally to 3,23,757 in the State.Of the new cases, 228 were from quarantine while 165 were local contacts.Angul district reported the day’s highest 47 new cases followed by Sundargarh with 44, Khordha 39, Sambalpur 27, Bargarh and Mayurbhanj 26 each, Cuttack 24, Baleswar 21, Jharsuguda 18, Jajpur 16, Ganjam and Puri 14 each, Rayagada six, Nabarangpur four, Balangir two and Boudh one.
Nine cases were reported from the State pool.Five more persons succumbed to the disease on the day, with which the State’s total death toll mounted to 1,803.Two deaths each were reported in Khordha and Mayurbhanj districts while Sundargarh recorded one.
Till date, Khordha district has reported the highest 310 deaths followed by Ganjam with 245 fatalities, Sundargarh 155, Cuttack 137 and Puri 110.
However, 386 patients recovered on the day, taking the total recoveries to 3,19,069 in the State.
