While the Centre is directly sending funds for various development works to the panchayats, the State Government is trying to control the flow of the funds, alleged Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan while addressing a public meeting on Tuesday here.
Almost blowing the poll bigul, Pradhan attacked the BJD Government for inertia, corruption and inefficiency and stated that the people can bring a change if they vote for the right candidate in the coming panchayat elections.
Addressing a public gathering at Rasalpur under Remuna block, Pradhan said, “When the Centre could directly credit the subsidy amount of lPG in the bank accounts of 17 crore consumers, why the State Government couldn’t extend the same facility to 70 lakh beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA)IJ”
Under the NFSA, the Centre provides Rs 29, the consumer gives Re 1 and the State Government Rs 2 for a kg of rice, said Pradhan flaying the State Government for trying to take credit for the scheme.
He alleged that massive irregularities have been committed in the selection of beneficiaries under NFSA. Consequently, the moneyed people availed food card while many deserving people were left out.
Pradhan stated that the Centre was sending funds directly to the panchayats for development works and the role of Bhubaneswar or the local administration was negligible.
