State must preserve Swargadwar: Pradhan

The Swargadwar cremation ground in Puri is considered sacred for every Hindu, and it is the responsibility of the State to preserve it. The State Government should conduct a transparent probe into the grabbing of the Swargadwar land and secure its religious status.

This was stated by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while addressing a public meeting on Digi-Dhan scheme here on Sunday. Pradhan also said that the Hundi set up in the Shree Jagannath Temple should be made digital, and servitors should be paid their dues in digital mode. Over 22 crore people in the country have already opened bank accounts under the Prime Minister’s Jandhan Yojana. There are 6,000 digital transaction centres in Odisha. It is observed that beneficiaries under the Indira Awas Yojana and the Souchalay scheme are financially exploited. So, to curb this, all the beneficiaries should be paid in digital mode, Pradhan said.

Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo, inaugurating the Digi-Dhan Mela, said that prior to the demonetisation only one per cent people had bank accounts, but after the Jandhan Yojana most of the countryside people who had no access to banks now have accounts. Others who were present on the occasion included Niti Aayog Advisor Srikant Naik. Nuagaon under Satyabadi blcok in Puri district was declared as Odisha’s first digital village.
