The State on Monday continued to witness a surge in Covid-19 cases with 572 new infections reported from 25 districts and the State pool. With this, the total tally increased to 12,94,076.
Among the newly-infected were 69 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Notably, the State had reported 576 Covid cases on Sunday.
Out of the new cases, 336 were from quarantine and 236 were local contacts.
Khordha district reported the day’s highest 219 cases followed by Cuttack with 68, Sundargarh 63, Sambalpur 41, Mayurbhanj 16, Jajpur 15, Angul 14, Baleswar and Puri 12 each, Jagatsinghpur and Nuapada eight each, Jharsuguda six, Gajapati, Kalahandi and Nayagarh five each, Koraput four, Subarnapur, Bhadrak and Keonjhar three each, Deogarh, Balangir and Rayagada two each and Bargarh, Boudh and Kendrapada one each.
Besides, 53 cases were reported from the State pool.
The number of active cases increased to 3,360.
So far, 12,81,537 patients have recovered in the State.
