Rising up to need of a good weekly market, the people of 40 villages around Satakosia Gorge Wildlife Sanctuary renovated the dilapidated market, Tainsi Hat Padia, with all support from the Foundation of Ecological Security (FES).
The market, after renovation, has got a new name, ‘Malati Choudhury Weekly Market’. Recently, the FES and the Charmalik Anchalik Vikash Parishad organised a three-day State-level Krushak Mela in the market ground.
The people from different parts of the State showcased their best practices pertaining to forest, land and water management. FES team leader Swapna Sarangi provided guidance.
While Angul district Collector Sachin R Jadav inaugurated the fair, Steel and Mines Minister Rajanikant Singh graced the closing ceremony. Dignitaries like Rajya Sabha Member AV Swami, social activist Krishna Sarangi, ecologist Artabandhu Mishra, Pradeep Mohapatra, Pranab Jena, Tankadhar Behera, Ganeswar Pradhan and Susil Pradhan attended various seminars organised on the occasion.
Presently the FES is implementing 8 watershed programme in the area.
