The Utkal Karate School will organise a State level Karate Championship for the first time at Jeypore on December 22 and 23.
The championship will be organised in the guidance of secretary, OSKA, Dr Hari Prasad Pattnaik and Sensei Muna Singh Lal, referee and judge, Karate Association of India, who founded the Utkal Karate School.
The institute has earlier hosted district level championships.
This was announced at a Press conference held here where local MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, secretary Sensei Lal, Rabi Nayak, Madhab Rath, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Krushna Chandra Dash and Mohamed Sharif were present.
MLA Bahinipati said, “As Karate is highly essential for women to protect themselves and a good medium of self defence, we are expecting a lot of young women to participate and learn the skill.” He appealed to all to make the event a grand success.
