The State Government on Tuesday formed a State Health Assurance Society to ensure health services to more unorganised and peasant families in coming days.

Chief Secretary AP Padhi chaired the first managing council meeting of the society at the State Secretariat on the day. While Health and Family Welfare Secretary Promod Meherda presented updates for discussion, National Health Mission Director Salini Pandit presented data on Rashtriya Swatshya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY).

Apart from advising officers to include more people in the health insurance, the Chief Secretary directed them to include hospitals of other States, where more numbers of Odia people get treatment, in the health insurance scheme and send State Treatment Funds to them.

Padhi said the BKKY and the RSBY would remain enforceable till March 2018 as the State is yet to get specific guidelines under the National Health Protection Scheme.

Meherda said while 44,08, 070 families have so far included in the RSBY, 57,60,525 families enrolled in the State-run BKKY. The Centre-State share in the RSBY is 60:40.

To claim assistance, two phone numbers, 155369( Health Department) and 155368 (labour Commissioner Office), are working now, he said.
