A two-day conference of the headmasters of the high schools of Sambalpur began here on Monday in the Jilla School premises.
“The aim of the conference is to bring about something innovative in the field of education all over the district,” informed the DEO Dr Pramod Kumar Panda in his introductory speech.
Sambalpur MP Nagendra Pradhan accompanied by Sambalpur MlA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi, Rengali MlA Ramesh Patua, President of Jilla Parishad Sobhangini Nayak, PD DRDA JK lakra inaugurated the conference.
Pradhan, the chief guest of the inaugural function and who was at one point of time the School and Mass Education Minister in the State, admitted the problems the teachers are facing these days. At the same time, he told in clear words that paying money to any authority is not the solution to get the demands fulfilled or the problems redressed. “Rather it is always wise to apprise the departmental Minister, Secretary and the Chief Minister of the problems and simultaneously find the solution, Pradhan maintained.
He recalled late Abani Baral and his contribution for the teaching community. “Baral was focusing the problems and at the same time he was also showing the possible ways of the solution. Hence, it was becoming easier to solve the problems of the teachers at the quickest possible time,” the MP said.
He further promised that he would allot Rs 6 lakh each to the private and aided schools for construction of new building in entire Sambalpur district.
Both the MlAs Patua and Dr Panigrahi lauded the role the teachers play in nation building. “The future of the country is built by none other than the teachers,” Dr Panigrahi said.
Educationists and intellectuals from all over the State have reached here to present their papers on upgradation of secondary education. “There will be total eight sessions in these days on the subject including interaction with the speakers,” headmistress of Jilla School Jayashree Dora informed. The teachers present were hopeful of getting new ideas from the conference.
