'State has failed to check crimes against women'

The Congress Mahila Committee on Thursday said it would intensify agitations against atrocities on women, irregularities in NFSA card distribution and failure of 108 Ambulance service in Odisha.

“The Mahila Congress will continue its protests till women are protected,” said AICC Mahila Committee president Sobha Oza at a Press conference here.

Oza too alleged that the State Government has failed to implement the National Food Security Act, introduced by the previous UPA Government, properly.

“Here, ruling party leaders have grabbed ration cards and the real beneficiaries have been deprived of,” she alleged.

She said the State Government has also failed to implement 108 Ambulance services, initiated by the UPA Government, properly.

“The State Government’s failure has affected Adivasi women in remote areas. It is disappointing that pregnant women are being carried in charpoys to hospitals,” she said.
