After it gets clearance from the Finance Department, the draft policy would be put for the approval of the State Cabinet before implementation.
The State Government had prepared the draft Start-up Policy and put it in the public domain during April-May seeking suggestions from stakeholders.
The suggestions incorporated in the draft policy include special focus on market access for startups, appointment of three to four top performing incubators in the country such as the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. They will work as nodal agencies for various sectoral startups.
Besides, a grant of Rs 5 to Rs 20 crore as initial capital support per incubator was suggested to create a viable start-up ecosystem with required infrastructure and other facilities. The State Government has planned to develop Odisha as a world-class startup hub by 2020 with as many as1,000 startups.
