The State Government would soon sign an MoU with the Wadhwani Foundation to provide skill development training in schools. The MoU, aimed at introducing vocational education in schools from this academic session, would be inked in April, official sources said.
While the State Government has introduced vocational education like IT and automobile in 30 schools in first phase during the 2015-16 academic year to facilitate students to be self-dependant, the US-based Wadhwani Foundation has extended its hand to begin self-development training programme in the remaining State-run schools.
The foundation would sign the agreement to impart self-development training to students free of cost.
Notably, the Wadhwani Foundation has currently initiated self-development training programmes in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jharkhand, apart from India’s neighbouring countries Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Earlier, the Earnst and Young was assigned the task to prepare a report on skill development programme. As per the report, syllabus has been prepared in total 40 subjects under the skill development programme.
On the basis of the report, the roadmap would be finalised by considering the regional requirements, after a decision by the Project Approval Board (PAB) of the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).
The outlook of the programme would be presented at the PAB. Following recommendation by the PAB, the programme would be undertaken by the Government.
