BJP State Krushak Morcha president Maheswar Sahu has held the State Government responsible for the farmer suicide cases.
The cases of farmer suicide are rampant nowadays. Owing to lack of proper irrigation facility, crops are drying up giving rise to drought-like situation and compelling farmers to commit suicide. "Unable to bear the losses and pay loan premiums, suicide is left as the only option for the frustrated farmers. The BJD Government has completely failed in preventing such cases," said Sahu here at a Press meet here.
After meeting the families of two farmers who committed suicide recently, Sahu said the families have not yet received any type of assistance from the Government.
He added that a memorandum in this regard would be given to the Governor on October 10 to draw his attention to the failure of the government in preventing farmer suicides and taking steps for development of farmer and agriculture.
