Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Wednesday ordered a probe by a third party into Tuesday’s outbreak of fire at the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (ICS) of the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
The Minister directed the investigating agency to submit the probe report within a week. Further, the Minister ordered for inspection of firefighting systems at SCB Medical College Hospital, Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Acharya Harihar Cancer Research Centre.
“An experienced consultant, a third party will be included in the preliminary committee formed the district collector to investigate the cause of yesterday’s fire. They have been asked to submit the report within a week. On the basis of the report we will take appropriate steps and if any lapses are found on anyone’s part, suitable action will be taken against him/her,” said Nayak briefing reporters after a review meeting on the fire incident.
The meeting chaired by the Minister was attended by departmental Secretary Arti Ahuja and the Superintendent of SCB Medical College Hospital.
