'State Govt failed in creating employments in 16 years'

The State BJP on Sunday severely criticised the Naveen Patanik Government for its “failures” and passed two resolutions, political and education and employment, at its executive meeting, which concluded at Sundargarh, to inform people about the failures.

“We have decided to inform the people about inefficiencies of the State Government and how it is indulged in false propaganda. It has failed in bringing development in all sectors in its 16 years of rule,” said party MlA Pradip Purohit and spokesperson Golak Mohapatra in a statement.

They pointed out that though the State Government has made a Rs96,000-crore Budget for 2016-17,  it has yet to collect revenue of Rs33,000 crore, which is short of Rs5,000 crore of the total salary amounts to be paid to the Government employees during the year. “This means the State Government will incur loans to pay salaries and depend on Central assistance for developmental activities. It reflects the inefficiency of the State Government,” they remarked.

Coming down heavily on dilapidating situation on education and employment sectors, the executive lamented that huge number of teacher and lecture posts are lying vacant.

“Seven per cent of Government schools are running with a single teacher and 66 per cent schools have not a teacher for 30 students. Similarly, 18 per cent regular teachers and 26 per cent contractual teachers are untrained. As many as 24,446 teacher posts are lying vacant under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. A total of 11,341 teacher posts are lying vacant in the Government high schools and 79 per cent schools have no playgrounds,” revealed the education and employment resolution.

Similarly, the party executive lamented that as many as 41 per cent households of the State are yet to get electricity.

The party executive alleged that while many of BJD MlAs and Ministers have been indulged in chit fund scam, the Government is busy in protecting them.
