Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged the Centre to announce establishment of the proposed National Institute of New Energy and Innovations (NINIE) in Bhubaneswar soon.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patnaik urged him to allocate necessary funds at the earliest to begin construction work.
Appreciating the Centre’s proposal of establishment of National Institute of New Energy and Innovations, Patnaik said, “My Government has taken expeditious steps to allot around 80 acres of land near IIT, Bhubaneswar for NINEI.”
The institute would focus on research work on development and promotion of new technologies in renewable sources of energy. The announcement about setting up of NINEI was made by Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Joint Secretary JB Mohapatra while speaking at the Odisha Energy Conclave-2015 organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in September last.
