Ration cards under the State’s own food security scheme were distributed to eligible beneficiaries at a function held at Singarapur under Jagatsinghpur block on Monday.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena inaugurated the programme and distributed the cards in presence of MP Kulamani Samal, State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Bishnu Das, Jagatsinghpur block Chairperson Bijayalaxmi Behera, ZP members, Sarpanches and PS members of Jagatsinghpur block.
The Minister said that as many as 8,953 beneficiaries have been identified in Jagatsinghpur block and asked left-out persons, if any, to approach the Block Development Officer (BDO) for verification and addition.
However, Minister’s assurance did not satisfy many beneficiaries as they alleged that the beneficiary selection was made under political consideration and, thereby, many eligible persons have been overthrown. BDO Lagnajit Rout refuted the allegation and asked people to apply for inclusion.
