'State fails to create opportunities for SC and ST'

Published on:

The State has failed to create opportunities for the SC and ST communities and there has been discrimination in various aspects of the society, lok Sammukhya convenor Ashok Nanda said.

He expressed concern and has written to the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard. He has also showcased a list of Chief Secretaries of Odisha from 1936 onwards.  According to the list, the highest post in Odisha Bureaucracy has mostly been occupied by people from upper caste.

The SC and ST communities in the State constitute more than 40 per cent of the population, but not a single person from these communities has occupied the Chief Secretary post, he added.
