'State doesn't name 7 ponzi firms in affidavit'

The State Government in its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court has mentioned names of 37 ponzi firms involved in the chit fund scam in a big way, but went soft on seven companies, including Artha Tatwa and Seashore Company, by deleting these names from the list.

Petitioner Alok Jena had recently filed a list of as many as 11 companies which are involved in a big way in the chit fund scam in the State. He also submitted that illegal activities of these companies have inter-State ramifications apart from the magnitude of the scams running into more than `500 crore in each case.

While learned counsel for the State Shibashish Misra who had filed a list of 37 companies included names of four companies, but didn’t include names of seven companies in the list.

The list furnished by State Counsel did not include ArthaTatwa Group, Adarsha Group, Seashore, ABC Indya, Safex India Pvt ltd, Swastik India Multi State Credit Cooperative and Nabadiganta Capital Services ltd.

According to State Counsel the activities of these companies do not have any inter-state ramifications.

Sources said, the companies except Nabadiganta have inter-State ramifications. The State Government’s soft attitude on the companies like AT Group and Seashore, who have duped hundreds of investors of more than one hundred crore, raised many eyebrows.   Jena said he would submit an affidavit in the court in this regard on April 23.
