Slash in Central shares in several Centrally-sponsored schemes has put an extra burden on the State exchequer to the tune of Rs3,887.61 crore during the current year 2015-16.

Similarly, the State would bear an extra amount of Rs4,106.28 crore over its share to run these programmes during the 2016-16 fiscal.

Finance Minister Pradeep Kumar Amat stated this in the State Assembly responding to a question of BJD MlA Amar Prasad Satpathy and supplementary questions by other members, including leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra.

The State Government would bear Rs3,887.61 over the allocation made in the main Budget of 2015-16 after slashing of the Central share.

A total of Rs7,309.27 crore has been estimated to be spent as the State share during the current fiscal, the Minister added.

He also informed that an estimated Rs7,309.27 crore would be spent as State share to run the projects during the coming year. The estimated amount is Rs4,106.28 crore excess to the main Budget allocation of the current year.

Among the flagship schemes, the Centre has slashed funding to Midday Day Meal by Rs144.98 crore, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan by Rs135.69 crore and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan by Rs93.02 crore, he informed.

He said the eight other projects for which the Centre has already stopped funding would be run by the State Government with its own resources.
