Odisha has been selected by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for the ‘Commendation Award’ under the ‘Total Food Grains Category II’ for 2016-17.
Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, in a letter to Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy, informed about this.
The Union Minister further congratulated the State Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department and Minister Maharathy for encouraging and supporting the farmers in achieving the milestone.
The award carries a citation and cash award of Rs 1 crore that will be distributed at the Krishi Unnati Mela likely to be during February-March 2019.
The date and venue of the function would be intimated separately, the letter stated.
