The State on Monday registered 448 new Covid-19 cases in 24 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally increased to10,32,144. Among the freshly-infected were 59 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.In the last 24 hours, 63,887 samples and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 0.70 per cent.
The State had reported 652 positive cases on Sunday. .Out of the new 448 cases, 259 were detected from quarantine and 189 local contacts. Khordha district reported the day’s highest 208 cases followed by Cuttack with 48, Jagatsinghpur 19, Mayurbhanj 17, Baleswar and Kendrapada 13 each, Jajpur and Puri 12 each and Sundargarh 10.
The districts which recorded below-10 cases were Sambalpur nine, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda and Nayagarh four each, Bhadrak, Balangir and Keonjhar three each, Angul, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nuapada two each, and Bargarh, Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur and Rayagada one each.Besides, 51 cases were reported from the State pool. Six more persons succumbed to the disease in the State, mounting the total death toll to 8,255. Khordha, Kendrapada and Cuttack districts reported two deaths each. However, 469 more patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 10,19,218.
