The State on Monday registered 171 new Covid-19 positive cases in 20 districts and the State pool, surging the total positive tally to 10, 47,174.
Among those newly infected were 34 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Notably, the State had reported 205 cases on Sunday. Of the new cases, 98 were reported from quarantine and 73 local contacts.
Khordha district reported the day’s maximum 76 cases followed by Sambalpur with 13 and Cuttack 10. The districts which reported below 10 cases were: Ganjam and Jajpur seven each, Mayurbhanj , Sundargarh and Baleswar five each, Kendrapada four, Boudh three, Gajapati, Jharsuguda and Kalahandi two each and Angul, Dhnkanal, Bargarh, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Subarnapur and Jagatsinghpur one each. Besides, 24 cases were reported from the State pool. The active cases stood at 2,226. As many as five more deaths were reported on the day, surging the total toll to 8,398. Ganjam district reported two deaths and Puri, Cuttack and Khordha one each. However, 245 persons recovered on the day, increasing the total recoveries to 10,36, 746.
