The State on Sunday reported a high of 1,243 new Covid-19 positive in the 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total positives’ tally surged to 9,87,070.A total of 69,427 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 1.79 per cent. The active cases stood at 12,129.Out of the new cases, 637 were from quarantine and 525 local contacts.Khordha district reported the day's highest 399 cases followed by Cuttack with 177.
The districts which reported below-100 cases were Jagatsinghpur with 88, Puri 69, Nayagarh 56, Angul 53, Jajpur 50, Baleswar 49, Mayurbhanj 35, Kendrapada 32, Dhenkanal 29, Bhadrak 22, Keonjhar 15, Sundargarh 14, Rayagada 13, Sambalpur 10, Bargarh nine, Balangir six, Kandhamal and Subarnapur five each, Jharsuguda and Boudh four each, Malkangiri and Gajapati three each, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Ganjam two each and Deogarh one. Besides, 84 cases were reported from the State pool. Meanwhile, another 69 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, mounting the total death toll to 6,435 in the State, the Health and Family Welfare Department said. The maximum 21 deaths were reported from Khordha district followed by 13 from Cuttack, eight from Sambalpur, six each from Sundargarh and Baleswar, five each from Bargarh and Keonjhar, four from Jharsuguda and one from Deogarh. However, another 1,463 patients recovered on the day, increasing the total recoveries to 9,69,916.
