The Ganjam district BJP unit on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of the Brahmapur Sub-Collector office demanding steps for starting work for an AYUSH hospital in Brahmapur as soon as possible.

BJP members said that the Central Government had provided Rs12 crore in 2016 for constructing an AYUSH hospital in Brahmapur, but due to the lack of keenness of the State Government it has not be built as yet. Shouting slogan against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, they alleged that the State Government is not able to properly utilise the money provided by the Central Government in the State.

BJP members pointed out that funds from the Central Government have been earmarked for two AYUSH hospitals, one each in Brahmapur and Dhenkanal. While the construction of the Dhenkanal hospital is on the verge of completion, the work of Brahmapur hospital has not yet started.

Stating that a large number of people of south Odisha would be benefitted from an Ayush hospital in Brahmapur, the BJP members demanded start of work for it before the Central fund lapses.

A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Sub-Collector.

Among others, BJP district president Kanhu Charan Pati, Sisir Padhy, Prabhat Kiran Sadangi, Sunil Kumar Sahu, Siba Adhikari, S Rani, Corporator Namita Panda, members Subhasini Patnaik, Dr Amulya Chaudhury, Bikash Panigrahi, P Dharma Rao and Saroj Patro were present.
