More than 10,000 Schedule Tribe (ST) people led by Bargarh District Adibasi Kalyan Sangha president Gobardhan Bhua staged demonstration in front of the district Collectorate on Wednesday and submitted a 22-point charter of demands for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking intervention through the district Collector.
The demands include appointment of full staff members in schools and colleges, facilities for poor people at Government and private hospitals, punishment to fake certificate holders employed in Government offices, appointment of separate DSP for implementation of the SC/ST and POA Act-1989 and 1995, arrest of Government employees for negligence in duties, etc. Earlier, the agitators took out a rally from the Bargarh Mini Stadium to the Collectorate. Among others, Sangh secretary Tarani Chhataria, Dharmaraj Singh Bariha, Premraj Bhua, Gobinda Bariha and Pandaba Bariha were present.
