Odia novel Chandrayan written by journalist and author Sriram Dash was released here at the Red Cross Bhavan last week by eminent litterateur Dr Ramachandra Behera in the presence of a galaxy of eminent personalities.
Dr Behera, a former president of Odisha Sahitya Academy, said Chandrayan is written on a completely new subject and it is going to set new standards for the new age Odia writers.
Stating that novels are the chroniclers of the civilisation, Dr Behera said Chandrayan deals with records of contemporary happenings in a storytelling style. “When I went through the novel, I was totally astonished and moved as to how a journalist could pen such a beautiful book of classic standard,” he exclaimed.
Eminent poet Dr Phani Mohanty, who presided over the meeting, stated, “When I started reading the script of novel Chandrayan, I could not stop until I finished it.” Chandrayan is a wonderful novel worth reading, he observed.
Eminent novelist and storywriter Santanu Acharya said novelists are the true intellectuals of the society. He observed that Chandrayan is a novel of an altogether different style. He foresaw that the book would earn name and fame to the author.
Well-known author and artist Deba Prasad Dash, while dissecting the novel as a reviewer, spoke high of the book and requested the publisher to translate it into Hindi and English.
“This is a good piece of literature of world standard,” he remarked.
