Top Maoist leader and central committee member of CPI(Maoist) Sriramulu Srinivas was arrested by the Andhra police on Saturday at Bairi in Khamam district of Andhra Pradesh.
Srinivas was involved in abduction of then Malkangiri Collector R Veenil Krishna and was granted bail during the release of the Krishna.
Srinivas was driving a Bolero jeep to somewhere while the police intercepted him near Bairi. The police opened fire at him in which he sustained injuries in his leg. However, he managed to give a slip to police. later, the police arrested him from a local hospital where he was being treated. The extremist was involved in several cases, including the abduction of Collector Krishna.
